Outlook Microsoft’s Outlook, an application for emails, common on Windows Operating System, used in offices, homes and by businesses, leapt recently to Outlook.com, a web-based email service. The service, which came out as a preview six months ago, added 60 million users, and Microsoft has now revealed that all users of Hotmail, can upgrade – seamlessly – to Outlook. Everything stays the same, and emails to the former account would be redirected, but the interface is like the computer-based application, and has users, access into the cloud, with privileges to send hundreds of pictures and videos in one email. It also has social media features, to make users see social feeds from within their email accounts, and several more striking features aimed at becoming the best email service globally and, to edge Gmail. In a blog post by David Law, Director of Product Management, Outlook.com, he said, “We’ve been very excited by the adoption of the preview and how it’s delivering on our promise of a new, reimagined email service. Throughout the preview, we learned a tremendous amount from seeing how people used the service. Early adopters have told us what they liked, what they’d like to see next, and what we needed to do to make more people switch. And we’ve used that to add new features and fine-tune the services to scale. Now that Outlook.com is coming out of preview, we’ll be kicking off a huge push across a number of countries around the world to drive even greater awareness and adoption of Outlook.com. Our goal is to make people everywhere aware of the new and compelling features provided by Outlook.com and to make it easy for them to give Outlook.com a try as a new email service.” Microsoft is reportedly planning ads and promos, across the U.S. in the next few weeks for Outlook.com, worth tens of millions of dollars. Awareness will be expected in Nigeria and around Africa — soon, given the number of people who have access to the internet on computers and devices.
